The Wilmington Public Works Department has compiled the attached list of streets on which construction or maintenance will take place over the next week by the city itself, or by DelDOT, Delmarva Power or contractors private. The attached information is from Monday June 13 to Friday June 17, 2022.
The City’s website contains a real time map which is updated daily so you can follow any changes to the weekly schedule caused by weather conditions or other construction-related delays. Public Works Commissioner Kelly Williams said every effort is being made to compile the most accurate list of street projects each week that could affect your movement around the city the following week. She warned, however, that the timelines for the listed projects could be changed if they are delayed due to factors such as weather conditions.
Italian Festival, Clifford Brown Jazz Festival
Italian Festival of St. Anthony begins Sunday, June 12 and continues through Sunday, June 19. Motorists are advised that the section of North Scott Street from 9 Weste west 10e Streets closed to vehicular traffic on Wednesday, June 8 will remain closed until 5 p.m. on Monday, June 20. During festival hours, the following street closures will be in effect:
- North Scott Street between West 8e Street and West 11e Street
- Howland Street between North Scott Street and North Dupont Street
- West 9e Street between North Lincoln Street and North Dupont Street
- West 10e Street between North Scott Street and North Dupont Street
The times of the Italian Festival 2022 are:
- Sunday June 12: 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
- From Monday June 13 to Friday June 17: 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
- Saturday June 18 and Sunday June 19: 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
The Clifford Brown Jazz Festival 2022now in her 35e year, returns to Rodney Square on Wednesday June 15 and continues through Saturday June 18. From Tuesday, June 14 at 8 a.m. until Sunday morning, June 19, Market Street between 10e and 11e the streets will be closed to all automobile traffic. Also, on festival nights, 10e The street between King Street and Market Street will be closed from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Saturday June 18 from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Rockford Park Road
The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) and the City of Wilmington announced that Rockford Park will be closed to traffic on Wednesday, June 15 and Thursday, June 16, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., for the installation of a new traffic pattern around the park. This project will improve safe access for bicycles and pedestrians, as well as parking at the park, which has become an issue due to increased visitation.
I-95 Corridor Restoration Project
Phase two of the two-year Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) reconstruction project to renovate and resurface Interstate 95 that runs through the city of Wilmington is underway. As part of the continuation of the Restore the Corridor project, DelDOT reminds motorists that there are now two exits from I-95 southbound toward Wilmington: Exit 7A for downtown Wilmington and Exit 6 for 4e Street. Exit 7B, which was closed last month, is expected to remain closed for construction for the next three months.
Motorists who need to exit Pennsylvania Avenue or head west on Delaware Avenue should now take Exit 7A, turn left on Adams Street, then left again on Delaware Avenue.
Rolling roadblocks, ramp closure
Motorists traveling on I-95 southbound on Tuesday, June 14, Wednesday, June 15, and Thursday, June 16 will encounter rolling roadblocks at 15-minute intervals beginning at 9 p.m. and continuing until 6 a.m. each day . Traffic will be temporarily halted during these hours while the barrier walls are moved.
