Free event to showcase costumes, competitions and Good Fortune pirate cruises

MACKINAW CITY, Mich., June 6, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Star Line Mackinac Island Ferry Company, a ferry company serving Mackinac Island of St. Ignatius and Mackinaw City, Mich. and owner and operator of the pirate ship Good Fortune – the only pirate ship traveling to Mackinac Islandhosts the third annual Great Lakes Pirates Festival on Saturday June 18 of noon to 5 p.m. at their main dock on Mackinac Island. The Great Lakes Pirate Festival is a free event and will kick off the summer season with a pirate party featuring a live pirate band, pirate trivia, family photo ops, food and drink, pirate contests and more.. Festival attendees of all ages are encouraged to wear pirate-themed outfits. The Good Fortune pirate ship will ferry passengers to the island from Town of Mackinaw in the morning and conclude the day with evening pirate cruises at 5:45 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. – departing from the main wharf on Mackinac Island. The night cruises will feature pirate music and dancing, crew members dressed and talking like pirates, water cannons for the kids, and the ride will end with the firing of the Good Fortune cannon. This year, the Good Fortune will be liquor licensed and Pirate Cruises will have adult snacks, drinks and refreshments available for purchase. The Great Lakes Pirate Festival will feature the Black Murray Band, Pirate Contests (eg Dress Like a Pirate, Talk Like a Pirate, Walk the Plank), Captain Brown Beard Entertainment, Pirate Trivia, Pirate Storytime, and more. This year, Good Fortune has added a night cruise called Nauti 21+, which passes under the Mackinac Bridge departing from Mackinac Island.
